Choose Life, Lenny’s Story
His parents told him, “Lenny, you’re either going to wind up in prison or wind up dead.” But he argued back, telling them that he had everything under control.
Two years later, Lenny was driving drunk, which resulted in a tragic car accident where a young 14-year-old riding in his car died. “That day, a part of me died too,” Lenny said. “I didn’t know how to function after that.”
From there, Lenny ended up in prison. And when he got out, he found he still couldn’t forgive himself. He started drinking again, then started using meth again.
Until one day he had had enough.
In 2011, he went to Teen Challenge, did really well for about a year, but then got out and went back to his addiction.
For about five years, the enemy made a mess of Lenny’s life until one day, convinced people were after him and feeling like he was losing his mind, Lenny ran back to Teen Challenge.
“Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19
Lenny came to a point where he knew he had to “choose life” if he were to survive. He came to Teen Challenge and learned how to leave addiction behind by relying on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Lenny went on to attend and graduate from Teen Challenge Ministry Institute. Today, he is an associate pastor of a church in the San Diego area. Together with the other pastors and two TCMI alumni, they are working together to rescue souls from the brink of hell.
“All that Satan took from me, God has multiplied and given it back. And now I have my Teen Challenge family. I’m not alone anymore…and I thank the Lord so much.”
