Restored From Addiction, Driven by the Great Commission: Chris’s Story
Chris grew up in a loving home, but during his teenage years, he started down a dangerous path of drugs and alcohol. By 19, he had lost his college hockey scholarship and found himself in a cycle of addiction. He hit rock bottom when he saw the pain he was causing his family, especially his younger brother, whose tears made Chris realize he needed to change.
Just weeks later, a Teen Challenge fundraiser knocked on his family’s door, offering a chance for hope. Though his first night at Orange County Teen Challenge was difficult, it marked the beginning of a complete transformation. Through the program, Chris found freedom from addiction and began to sense a new destiny and calling on his life.
After graduating, Chris followed God’s call overseas, serving in Cambodia and Kenya before settling in Uganda. There, he met his wife and saw the deep need for discipleship and mentorship among fatherless youth. In 2019, they founded 517 Ministries, providing a safe space for young boys to learn, grow, and find hope in Jesus Christ.
Today, Chris’ family and ministry continue to grow, impacting the lives of countless young people in Uganda. His journey shows the power of God’s redemption and the impact of Teen Challenge.
