From Punk Rocker to Pastor, Daniel’s Story
Growing up, Daniel had trouble making friends. But his love for music led him to the punk rock scene and he began to skip school to tour California and play in bands. Drugs, alcohol, and music ruled his life.
But at age 18, a good friend died and Daniel lost all desire to play music. Drifting aimlessly through life, he turned to selling drugs and guns as a way to support himself. Soon he became an angry, violent young man who had burned all his bridges. No one wanted him around and he lost himself for a year and a half into a haze of one meth injection after another.
This addiction led him in and out of psychiatric hospitals and Daniel basically lost his mind. But his family never completely gave up on him. His dad even prayed that Daniel would be reduced to having no other option but God. One day, his grandparents invited him over for dinner and told him about Teen Challenge.
Daniel entered Teen Challenge in Shafter in 2016 and began the long process of figuring out who he was and what God’s plans were for his life. After much encouragement, he began to play with the worship band. And he began to learn how to rebuild his life into something beautiful.
