Jeremy’s Story

Jeremy Found Lasting Change at Teen Challenge

While still only in his 20s, alcohol had such a grip on Jeremy that whenever he tried to stop drinking, the seizures would start. Pancreatitis landed him in the hospital several times.

At 29, one seizure left Jeremy so disoriented that when his awareness returned, he found himself inside a stranger’s house. The police were called and Jeremy ended up in jail for a time.

Because of alcohol, Jeremy walked away from career, friends and family.

Then he found Teen Challenge.

Only two days after entering Teen Challenge, his life was changed at a chapel service by an encounter with God that made him feel as if he had finally come home.

“I felt that God had actually missed me when I was gone,” he said.

“If I could talk to myself ten years ago, I would say that, ‘You know you’re not happy. The things that you think make you happy are not of God.’ I’d also say that God misses me and I should come back.

Today, Jeremy works with the male students at Central Valley Teen Challenge. Every day he sees people coming into Teen Challenge, wrecked and with an absence of God in their lives.

“I’ve heard it said that ‘people don’t change,’ but working at Teen Challenge, I’ve learned that people do change. The only one who doesn’t change is God.”

Thank you for your donations that give Teen Challenge students like Jeremy a safe place to experience God in a way that will change their lives forever.
