Addicted for 25 years… Now she’s free | Krystin’s Story
Krystin started taking drugs in high school as a way to fit in. But the time came when she found she couldn’t escape the drugs—the grip they had on her was too tight. After going through a rehab program, she called her dad. “I’m 38 days clean!” But her dad could see the root of her problem still remained, and told her that to be truly clean, she needed Jesus. He told her about Teen Challenge.
Krystin came into Los Angeles County Teen Challenge where she found the Lord and learned how to live a new life free of drugs.
“It’s been a good journey,” she said. “I’ve learned tools at Teen Challenge that help me to be comfortable in my own skin. Now that I know that Jesus loves me, nothing else matters.”
Gifts from donors like you made it possible for Krystin to find the safe place she needed to recover from her addiction. You have made it possible for her to make a difference in others’ lives.
Since Krystin turned her life over to God, she has seen relationships restored with her family and her children. She’s also seen her self-worth restored and is secure in her identity. “Now I know who I am in Christ,” Krystin said. “I know I can find everything I need in Christ.” Krystin has been sober for 5 years, after a 25-year addiction! Today she serves at the Teen Challenge Ministry Institute, helping other students find a fulfilling life and prepare for ministries of their own.
“I want people to know that no matter how many times they fall, the Lord is waiting for them to cry out and ask for his help.”
Like Krystin, our goal is to reach every addict with the good news that Jesus Christ can redeem, heal, and restore lives. Your donations make that possible. If you have not yet sent a generous gift this month, will you do so today?
